Stamps and Letters

Ms Elliott has been rewarding Year 6 with international postage stamps instead of stickers. They have had stamps from all over their world in their books. Can you remember some of the countries that you have received a stamp from? If you could design a stamp, what would it look like?

Did you know....
The UK is the only country that does not display its name on its postage stamps.

Did you know....
In 1973, Bhutan issued a stamp that could play their national anthem if put on a record player.
Did you know....
The first non-royal to appear on UK postage stamps was William Shakespeare in 1964.
Did you know....
In 2013, Belgium issued stamps that smelt and tasted of chocolate.
In the 21st Century, people rely on technology to communicate with their friends and families - social media, texts, group chat, emails and video calls - and don't send as many letters or cards in the post. Given the current situation, we are relying on technology more than ever.
Have a look at the school website to see the Online Safety rules.

If you could send a letter to anyone in the world, who would you write to and why? What would you say?
Post your ideas and comments in the box below. You could even write a letter to Ms Elliott or Mr Whitesage.
